The Assises de l'Agriculture is a key event that is organized every year in the city of Meknes by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, in order to display the annual report of its achievements and the strategic orientations of the agricultural sector.
A must-attend event for decision-makers and experts in agriculture in Morocco and around the world, this annual event held as a prelude to the International Agricultural Show in Morocco (SIAM), is attended by the prominent participation of Heads of States and Ministers of Agriculture , great witnesses, scientists and eminent experts in the forefront of agriculture. They take part to share their experiences and discuss the major challenges related to the agriculture sector.
The chosen theme for this year’s edition is “Youth, the Core and Main Beneficiary of Agricultural Development”.
Recognizing the urgent need to engage and integrate young people in agricultural development, in a context of population growth, especially in southern countries.
Recognizing the role that a young generation of “digital natives” can play to speed up agricultural development and enhance its productivity.
Reaffirming the need to put in place an integrated development and model policies facilitating access of young people to education, to new technologies, and to land…etc.
Reaffirming the merits of multi-stakeholder partnerships - the public, private, academic, national and international ones – in order to achieve the operationalization of integrated development models.
Highlighting success stories that stress inclusive, integrated, and partnership-based models, in order to reproduce and speed up these solutions.
Confirming that the PMV (Plan Maroc Vert) of the Kingdom of Morocco (based on figures) has contributed to the creation of solutions for young people living in rural areas, particularly via pillar II.
